Storm have just completed the upgrade of their flagship finishing suite with a custom built Strongbox DX-G Resolve rig, 65″ LG 4K OLED display and Dynamic Drive Pool 10Gb shared storage. Powerful enough to grade 6K RED dragon in real time this upgrade will have a dramatic impact on the natural history projects we deliver in 4K for worldwide distribution.
The Strongbox rigs are custom built top specification workstations with tweaked BIOS and super fast cache drives that are ideal for picture processing. Paired with the Dynamic Drive Pool shared storage the system delivers amazing results to the 65 inch LG OLED UHD display which is setup in an ultimate home viewing environment. This room design has been very successful since Storm started with HD grading 10 years ago and is even more important now to appreciate the extra resolution the 4K delivers.
Storm’s finishing suites are all designed to complete the entire picture finishing process in one room with one finishing editor who will craft the conform, online, grade, graphics and spot vfx. Each suite is fully loaded with DaVinci Resolve, Symphony, Fusion, Adobe Premiere and After Effects which allows the operator the means to make the picture finishing budget stretch further and get those results on screen.
Storm has recently delivered Wild Sri Lanka a three part Natural History series produced by Mike Birkhead Associates in 4K for Terra Mater studios in Austria.
